A Quick Orientation Tutorial

HOW IT WORKS:

NOTE: The map display cannot show more than 200 listings at one time.
If more than 200 listings are found, it will ask you to limit the search criteria, either by entering specific information in the search boxes or zooming in on a smaller map area view.

Listings posted in the last week are tagged with a "NEW" identifier on the property location Map Icon.

Number of Listings Found is limited to the portion of the Map that is currently displayed.
To see all listings meeting your search criteria, scroll the map to include all areas or zoom-out to display the entire search area desired.

GENERAL SEARCH PARAMETERS: The default display will initially be without any search criteria and the map will display the entire region.
The next time you access the system, it will display the results of the last search you performed. You can clear the old search and procede to enter new criteria or map-zoom to new areas.

On the left side you will see FILL IN BOXES.

"LOCATION": You can enter a Zip Code (multiple Zips separated by commas (",") or city or place names (a pull down menu will appear of location names from which to select. This includes city names and areas, even most school districts.

Our programmers are working on custom searches by school with the school districts outlined on the map. We expect to have that enhancement project completed before the end of March 2011.

"PRICE RANGE", "BEDS", "BATHS", "SQ. FT." (accuracy is limited to listing agent entering correct info, we recommend leaving blank to return all) and "LOT SIZE" are self-explanatory, search limiting criteria.

"PROPERTY TYPE" is the most common way to limit search results. If no box is checked, the search will return All Property Types. To limit the search simply check the Box(s) you want and only those Property Types will be displayed.

"STATUS" defaults to only "ACTIVE" listings. If you want to view "CONTINGENT" (under contract) listings, check the "CONTINGENT" box. To see Contingent listings only, uncheck the "Active" box.

"MORE SEARCH CRITERIA" Click on this to see additional search criteria from which to select.

The "FEATURES" selector (when clicked-on) will display a pull-down menu of additional categories from which to choose. For example, if you want to find foreclosure (bank owned) or Short Sale properties, Click on "Features" and select "DISTRESS TYPE"

The selector box below will change to show the choices in this category. To Find "Bank Owned" property, check the "FORECLOSURE" and "REO" Boxes.
If you want to find "SHORT SALES", then Check only the "PRE-FORECLOSURE" and "SHORT SALE" boxes. If no "DISTRESS TYPE" boxes are checked, all properties, including distressed properties will be displayed.

HOW TO NAVIGATE THE MAP

Placing the "cursor" in the viewable Map area will allow you to interactively control the Map Display, as you choose.

Drag and Move: LEFT-CLICK (and HOLD) then move the Mouse to change the Map Window View (Up/Down and/or Side-to-Side). You can also use the standard keyboard arrow keys for Map scrolling.

ZOOM: When you Zoom, the available properties will change to only those in the "viewable Map area."

Set mouse cursor on zoom location and "roll" mouse scroll-wheel forward to zoom-in and back to zoom out.
You can also Zoom-in using "CTRL +" and Zoom-out using "CTRL -".

The top-left of the Map display has a "click-able" Navigation bar, as well for Moving and Zooming.

Additionally, the Navigation bar allows you to switch from "Road" display to "Aerial" display for
a Bird's-Eye view of the property with lot boundary overlay. Very, very cool.

MAP DISPLAY & SEARCH TOOLS At the bottom of the Map Display there are four (4) selectors:

"EXPAND MAP" will allow you to enlarge the viewable area of the Map on your computer screen.

"DISPLAY ICONS" turns on or off the "house" icons used to show the position and Map location of the listings.

"DRAW SEARCH AREA" allows you to draw a custom perimiter on the map for the exact area you want to search.

To use, Click on "DRAW SEARCH AREA" and click on your starting point.
Move to the Map location(s) you want to set the boundary and click at each point of directional change.
Once the area is completely outlined and you have returned to your starting point, you will be able to select "END DRAWING"
Once you end the drawing, the system will immediately search for properties within that boundary.

So you don't have to repeat this proceedure each time you visit,
you can save it as a custom search by clicking on "SAVE THIS SEARCH" (upper left corner)
You can also have the system automatically e-mail you with any new listings that become available in that area.
To set up these automatic alerts, as many as you want, select "GET EMAIL ALERTS" (also in the upper left corner).

To enable these free automated features, you must REGISTER on the site for a FREE ACCOUNT with the E-Mail Address to which you want the updates to be sent.

You can save as many different searches as you want, there is no limit.

"POINTS OF INTEREST" let's you chose and display Map Icons for various landmarks, such as Grocery Stores, Banks, Schools, etc.
You can turn these on or off at your convenience.

VIEWING PROPERTY LISTS AND LISTINGS

The List Display Box is located below the Map Display and is automatically generated from the search results and is directly linked to the Map Display.

Mouse over to the "highlighted" address and the property's Map Location
will be shown as a pop-up box with photo and details.

Click on the list's "highlighted" address and a complete listing for that property will be displayed along with additional photos and any available virtual tours.
